100 Avatars
What started as a fun challenge to learn Unity led me to create some of the most widely used avatars in the world.
This journey began with a simple goal: to create 100 avatars in 100 consecutive days.
/// In 2018, I created 100 unique 3D characters in 100 consecutive days, just for fun and to improve my Unity rendering skills. By early 2019, my team and I began transforming them into VRChat avatars, where they became featured and, to this day, are the most used avatars on the platform.
In 2020, we kicked off "100 Avatars Round 2," and once complete, we released all 200 avatars as Open Source under the CC0 license—giving the world a creative gift.
/// Since then, these avatars have become some of the most well-known in the world, especially in Japan. Thousands use them daily as their favorite characters, and they’ve been featured in YouTube videos with millions of views, music videos, stickers, digital clothing accessories, and more.
In 2024, we launched "Round 3," though this time, I wasn’t the one creating the avatars myself.
/// In 2020, we launched the first-ever VRM NFT project(CryptoAvatars), using the 100 avatars as base models, minting them onto the Ethreum blockchain to remain open-source forever.

Opportunity
/// 100 Avatars has always been one of my favorite projects, opening countless doors in the industry.
What’s next?
They're coming to Roblox and beyond
maybe a Round 4, created by me, in the future, who knows.
Cool Banana FTW!
